California Colleges

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

By Josh Riverside The State of California spends one of the largest budget allocations to public education - in fact, some 40% of its tax revenue is devoted to education. There are three collegiate level divisions that a college-bound student can get to in California. One is the University of California which has nine general Campuses. It intends to accept the upper 12.5% of college-bound students and provides most of the graduate studies and research. The California State Colleges, on the other hand, is where many of the college-bound population end up. It has 23 campuses and has more than 400,000 students in enrolled. CSU is the largest college system in the United States. The California Community Colleges System, meanwhile, provides vocational education, remedial education, and continuing education programs. There are several certificate and associate degrees that these Community Colleges give. In 2005 it enrolled 2.9 million students in 109 colleges in 72 districts. Many private institutions of note such as Stanford and University of Southern California (USC) share the remaining, usually elite population of the college-bound students. Aside from these many specialty colleges run by religious and multi-sectoral organizations find their niche in arts and music. Southern California has more competitive choir groups than in any part of the United States. Campus Life in any of the California Colleges differs from the resources of each Campus. In USC, alcohol use is allowed for students of legal age. If you’re eyeing yourself on College education, then it is best that you find out about the SAT requirements of each school and try to work hard to achieve a well-rounded lifestyle while in high school. Units in the general education program of any College are recognized by the University of California and transferable in case you’re planning to shift colleges. The good thing about California Colleges is you can get as much freedom with their extensive choice in housing and offer in Campus employment. Student Organizations are very active in hosting cultural nights and are the forerunners of Campus Activity. In 2005, 20% of male undergrads are members of Fraternity and 15% of female undergrads are members of Sororities. Hazing is prohibited in the state of California. California Colleges are a cut above the rest when it comes to funding. The student population is very high and kids going to college are getting higher each year. California Colleges provides detailed information on California Colleges, California Community Colleges, Northern California Colleges, California Junior Colleges and more. California Colleges is affiliated with Continuing Legal Education. 3 Resume Secrets the Pros Use

Monday, July 30th, 2007

By Kevin Donlin You don’t write a resume every day. Not even every month or year, most likely. So you can’t be expected to do it flawlessly every time, right? After all, you’re not a professional. Well, I am. My team and I have written or edited nearly 5,000 resumes over the past nine years. And there are a handful of secrets we use to get the job done, and get our clients hired. Now, for the first time, I’d like to share with you three of my proven methods for writing a resume that gets results. Fast. Here they are … 1) Focus on One Specific Job I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard job seekers say, “I want a resume I can use to apply for many jobs, like Project Manager, IT Manager and HR Manager, for example.” My response: You can’t. Writing a resume that tries to be all things to all employers is like trying to ride a horse in all directions at once. You’ll get nowhere fast. Before writing one word of your resume, it’s essential that you first choose one job title or function, such as project management. Then aim your resume in that direction. Every sentence in your resume should try to convince employers that you are the person to hire for that one job. But never more than one. Because you’ll only end up confusing readers with a “one-size-fits-all” resume. And a confused mind will always say no. Which can spell doom for your job search. 2) Use a “Skill Skeleton” Once you tailor your resume with one job in mind, try to focus further and come up with a short list of skills to build the entire document around. I refer to this as a “skill skeleton.” Let me explain. You may be an awesome project manager, for example. But what are the three or four skills that make you so special? Is it your ability to finish projects early and under budget? Your skill at leading others? A knack for negotiating the lowest prices with vendors? These areas of expertise make up your “skill skeleton.” Try to make them a recurring theme throughout your resume. Emphasize them again and again when describing your success stories on the job and in school. Using a “skill skeleton” like this will force you to focus on a core message that’s compelling and easy for employers to remember. And, of course, it should make the phone ring with job offers! 3) Be Truthful AND Believable You already know you must be 100% truthful in your resume — your GPA, actual degrees from actual schools, accurate dates, etc. That’s basic stuff. But it’s not enough for YOU to believe what you’re saying. The employer has to believe it, too. To encourage that, back up the claims in your resume any way you can, using specific numbers, dollars, percentages and dates. Here are some wrong and right ways to make your resume more believable … WRONG”Many years of experience” RIGHT”Seven years of award-winning experience” WRONG”Saved time and money” RIGHT”Saved $437,450 and reduced cycle time by 23 days” See the difference? Specific facts and figures are more believable than generalizations. Always. Every time. For best results, get written documentation for all of your claims, then bring these documents to the interview, where you can expand on points of interest in your resume face-to-face with a hiring manager. Now go out and make your own luck! Kevin Donlin is President of Guaranteed Resumes. Since 1996, he and his team have provided resumes, cover letters and online job-search assistance to clients in all 50 states and 23 countries. Are You Called?

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

By Anthony Smith Are you called by God to enter into His Kingdom? Are you called by God to accept or reject His plan of Salvation? Have you already made up you mind that God doesnt exist or that there is a better way? Are you sure of the way you are going, is the deity or god that you worship, fulfilling your every need, does it guarantee your salvation from sin and safety from everlasting damnation? This world is full of gods many and lords many, but are these gods you serve able to answer prayer or does these gods only offer death and destruction? Does these gods tell you to kill, maim and disembowel all that refuse to believe in it, does it demand you to bow openly and sacrifice your self for it? Rom 8:22-23; For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. Redemption; In theology, the purchase of God’s favor by the death and sufferings of Christ; the ransom or deliverance of sinners from the bondage of sin and the penalties of God’s violated law by the atonement of Christ.(Webster) There are many passages in the New Testament which represent Christ’s sufferings under the idea of a ransom or price, and the result thereby secured is a purchase or redemption (Compare Act_20:28; 1Co_6:19, 1Co_6:20; Gal_3:13; Gal_4:4, Gal_4:5; Eph_1:7; Col_1:14; 1Ti_2:5, 1Ti_2:6; Tit_2:14; Heb_9:12; 1Pe_1:18, 1Pe_1:19; Rev_5:9). The idea running through all these texts, however various their reference, is that of payment made for our redemption. The debt against us is not viewed as simply canceled, but is fully paid. Christ’s blood and life.(Easton) This world has been devouring itself alive, moving to one god then another, growing by leaps and bounds. Not knowing from one day to another what will be ahead. Worldly spirits not desiring the redemption of body or the soul, saying that there is only reward for the obedient and only death for the unbeliever. These gods desire murder for reward, others saying that renewing of the body after death will bring you back a more perfect human being, where you can just start all over again, life after life, death after death with no end. Hypocrites all, false gods and prophets, whose end is death everlasting in fire and smoke, brimstone and terror, a fitting end and well deserved. The penalties of God’s violated law, has been added to our charge the minute that we understand right from wrong. We have an obligation to God and Christ, for Jesus paid a dept that He did not owe. These violated Laws of God are the laws of the sinful spirit of flesh over spirit. Fornication is forsaking of God and or a following after idols, these are the gods of man, stone, rock, all manner of the wild imagination of man. Sitting in the mountains, rejecting all mankind, never helping nor striving to aid mankind in finding the truth. Burrowing their head into the sand believing that all will be well and good, threw their own enlightenment. I will call them The Shall Nots. We see the worshiping of rocks and temples made to honor them. Idols made of all manner of stone and iron, being made in the imagery of a man, the worshiping of the cattle of the field and monkeys of the forest, mothers sacrificing their sons for others vanity. Worshiping the creature of the fields and the crawlers of the ground instead of worshiping the Creator of all things. God rejects any man made likeness of Him, He demands worship of Him and not idols. We are not gods to worship, we are the creature that God tell us that we shall worship more than Him. Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. Where then is the image of God that we worship? Are there no resemblances of our Father? Yes. Col 1:4-17; Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; (Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:) For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. Consist To stand together; to be in a fixed or permanent state, as a body composed of parts in union or connection. Hence, to be; to exist; to subsist; to be supported and maintained.(Webster.) Jesus of Nazareth is the image of the invisible God, Jesus of Jerusalem is the Bearer of the Gospel of God, Jesus the Lion of the Tribe of Juda is the King of all Kings and the Sword of the Lord God Almighty. Not stone or wood, not hiding in the mountains, not in the desert, nor the valley, not in the image of crawlers or walkers of the field, not in the birds that fly nor the fish that swims in the depth of the ocean, but a living Lord, a living Christ that is every where, from everlasting to everlasting. Look at the gods you’ve made, do they not follow after the will of their creator, do they not serve the best interest of those that demand their worship? Do not be blinded by strange flesh, strange gods and strange commandments. God’s violated law are; For without are dogs, sorcerers, whoremongers, murderers, idolaters, lier’s, anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication, fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, covetousness, adultery, and idolatry and all other things that cause unrighteousness. Rom 8:28 ; And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Jesus stated to all; The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. Paul stated; Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.Think clearly, are you called? Ars. Why No Affair is Ever a Mistake

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

By Elaine Sihera Often one hears men, particularly celebrities or those in the public eye (British Prime Minister John Major and his mistress Edwina Currie come to mind), when their affairs are outed, bemoaning what a mistake it was (always the men, for this one!) and how mad they must have been to have that affair. But that is such nonsense, when taken with hindsight, as well as being most derogatory and insulting to the women involved. It is a futile exercise comparing feelings across time. No one ever makes a mistake in their choice of partners. Our choices are dictated by that essential moment in time, the way we felt then, even if they are not appropriate now. Regardless of the options we had before us, that final choice was the only one we felt capable of accepting at that single moment, for whatever reason. We are constantly seeking happiness through personal reinforcement, affirmation, significance and value because our overriding need in life is to be accepted and wanted. Our parents and partners usually provide that for us. When it is missing through a lack of attraction, being taken for granted, being ignored or simply falling out of love, we seek it elsewhere. Our actions are always dictated by one primary factor the way we FEEL at that moment in time. Feelings and emotions control us and that is why, no matter how upright and conservative we are in actions, alcohol releases our inhibitions and the feelings we try to suppress. If we are feeling down, isolated, unloved and excluded we are likely to behave in an entirely different manner, more negative and selfish, than if we feel wanted, uplifted, loved and appreciated. Therefore apologising for behaving badly is pointless because that represents the negative side of our character. We cannot apologise for who we are. The best thing is to learn from it and move on. Otherwise apologies and regrets become substitutes for the continuing bad behaviour. We can always apologise, which then makes it right! No affair is ever a mistake because it was the choice of that moment to improve our feelings, whatever they were at the time. What happened then might not be the right thing for now, three or five years on, when times and feelings have progressed, but the decision we make at any point regarding the involvement of others is always the appropriate one for that precise moment because of our evolution. If we could have behaved differently then, we most certainly would have done so, and that is a point worth stressing. Very few people act without reason or need. Regret comes only when our mood and situation have changed, or we lost something valuable in the process, then we use hindsight, and the mood and experience of today, to judge the inadequacy, immaturity or momentary madness of yesterday. Learning from the Situation Most importantly, the consequences of the choices we make, whether positive or negative, help to shape our individual development and experience. It is thus pointless living in a land of regret, beating ourselves over the head because of unplanned detours we made in our lives. We cannot make excuses for past action we cannot change, because the very act of behaving in that manner will have actually influenced and shaped the person we have become. Furthermore, that relationship was probably necessary to get the two parties involved through a difficult period of their life; to reinforce them as valued people and to clarify the issues around them. Having benefited from it and moved on, the relationship cannot then be viewed as a mistake! It was a crucial part of defining the people involved, the situation they were in, the pressing needs they had and where they both wanted to go. If they are not too happy with the outcome, the best they can do is to learn from it and avoid a repetition, but it will still have added to, or even changed, their perspectives on life for the better. The least they would have learned is that an affair is never the answer to resolving a problematic relationship. No experience in our life is ever wasted and every direction we take is part of our natural development. If you steal as a child because of a dare with friends, or it was easy to do, it is pointless berating yourself for that act 20 years later when you are more mature and knowledgeable about life and when those acts of deviance with your peers helped to reinforce you then and make you into the character you are now. Regrets do nothing but diminsh our esteem and induce self-doubt. However, acknowledging those actions as stages in our evolution and development, and using them as learning tools to improve the quality of our life and interaction with others, will make the biggest difference to our journey. A Car Loan: A Wholesome Choice To Fulfil Your Vital Need Of A Car

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_Carry]John Carry A car loan provides opportunity to have an own car. Thus, it has become an indispensable need than merely a loan option in present day scenario. Different people can have different opinions about a car. If somebody asks young people, they may define it as superb vehicle to enjoy the thrill of speed. Mature people would say that it is an easier option to reach your destination. However, one thing that may collectively define a car is that it is a basic need, due to its usefulness. Thus, it is quite evident that everybody wants to have a car. Therefore, a car loan becomes a requisite for someone who cannot afford a car due to its expensive prices. Like different needs, everybody has his own financial resources and buying capabilities. Therefore, the people can opt for a secured car loan or an unsecured car loan as per their state of affairs. If they opt for a secured car loan, they need to offer collateral against the procured loan amount. However, a borrower has to offer collateral and he might lose it, if he does not refund the loan amount in the allocated period. Nevertheless, he does get some benefits like longer repayment period, a big loan amount, and flexibility in terms and conditions. The other loan option can be a favourite one for somebody who does not have any property to pledge against the loan amount. However, some people willingly dont offer collateral to avoid the risk of repossession in case of non-repayment. This [http://www.ask4loan.co.uk/car-loan.html]car loan option may suit the needs of various people, but a lender obtains high rate of interest and allows shorter repayment period, as he doesnt have any security against the loan amount. People would find numerous lenders, if they look out for a car loan. Some essential documents regarding credit history, proof of income, are necessary for the processing of the loan amount. An interested borrower can help himself to find the most-desired car loan option by evaluating the interest rates of various lenders with the help of Internet. Getting And Keeping The Woman You Desire - Ten Do’s And Don’ts

Monday, July 16th, 2007

By Rhonda Findling Sometimes men meet women theyre attracted to but dont have the right tools to engage them, resulting in a lost connection. As an author and dating coach to hundreds of men and women throughout the years Ive discovered the 10 following ways of behaving and relating that will ensure a mans ability to captivate and keep a womans interest. DONTS 1. Dont push sex so much Most women find men who talk about sex when theyre first starting to date obnoxious. If you keep trying to talk about sex, you just end up looking desperate and sexually hungry. Like you never get any. Women like men who can hold back a little who can take it or leave it. Pushing sex too much can also make a man look like he has a one-track mind and is not interested in having a relationship with her which will make most women run for the hills. 2. Dont turn her into your shrink Dont overwhelm a women with too may of your problems when youre first getting to know her. Dont discuss your dysfunctional family, money problems or a bad divorce. Women might immediately categorize you as a loser and exceptionally needy. If youre struggling with so many problems, consider seeing a therapist instead and keep your dates just for socializing. 3. Dont stare at her body inappropriately Most women find a man who is staring at her breasts or some other part of her body when they are speaking offensive. She usually feels objectified and even violated. It also gives women the impression that the man is not really interested in her as a person. In addition it usually makes the man look immature, not smooth, socially inept and desperate for sex. 4. Dont act desperate Even if youre crazy about a woman try to sit on your feelings and act cool. Dont chase so much. Nothing turns off a woman more than a man who calls her incessantly. Remember the scene from Swingers where Jon Favreau keeps calling the girl from the bar over and over and she tells him never to call her again? Women warn each other about men who give them the big rush job in the beginning only to disappear later on. So youre better off calling her to show your interested but in a timely appropriate manner so you appear stable and sincere. 5. Dont be cheap Even in post-feminist times, nothing turns a woman off more than men who wont shell out money for the first few dates. Men who dont like to pay look withholding and anal. If you have frugal tendencies contain them at least until youre in a long-term relationship. Then maybe shell appreciate it more. DOS 6. Be a little edgy Edgy is almost an art form. Its walking a fine line between being available, and holding back a little. Its having a masculine powerful presence while also appearing vulnerable -like Jack Bauer in 24. If this is too difficult then at least wear a leather jacket and try to act as if. 7. Tone down the sarcasm Many women experience sarcasm as hostile. Making fun of a woman youre highly interested in even if its said in a clever way is not the way to go. You dont want to come across as the jerky sixth grade boy who wants to dip her pigtails in ink. Sit on your urge to make sarcastic comments, which actually may be a symptom of your anxiety. Funny is good as long as shes not the target of the joke. 8. Be a good listener Nothing turns a woman off more then a man whos just waiting for her to finish speaking so its his turn to talk. Even if it takes a lot of self discipline focus on what shes actually saying. Then give her some reflective feedback to let her know youre actively listening. The most successful salesmen and politicians are great listeners. Thats how they learn what a person needs so they can make a great sale or get a vote. 9. Have great eye contact Try to gaze into her eyes when you speak. Theres nothing more seductive than a guy who not only looks at a woman while he or she is speaking, but holds the gaze a couple of seconds longer than necessary. Its very sexy. 10. Try to look cool Even if clothes arent your thing try to buy shoes, suits and clothing that sexy guys wear. Even if you only have one seductive going-out outfit. The myth that women are only into how much money you earn and the car you drive is simply not true. Women are very much into if a guy is hot looking just like men are. And always always have clean fingernails! Rhonda Findling, M.A.,C.R.C. is the author of “Dont Call That Man! Grab Attention With Case Studies

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

By Andrea J. Stenberg To really grab attention with your marketing, you need to make your readers identify with your message. A powerful way to do this is with a case study. A case study is essentially a customer success story. It works because, if done properly, your readers will identify with your customer, recognize their own problem and see how you can solve that problem. Case studies follow the same general format: 1. Introduce your customer. Highlight all they ways they resemble your typical customer. You want the readers to see themselves in this description. 2. Describe their problem. Detail all the ways they tried, and failed, to solve their problem. The more details you supply, the more your customers frustrations will come alive. You want the reader to say, Hey, that sounds like me! 3. Show how your product or service solved the problem. Talk about the benefits, ease of use, money saved. Dont forget to include any unexpected benefits your customer saw. Use quotes from your satisfied customer in this section. Your reader will trust the information more if they feel its coming from a paying customer, rather than your marketing department. 4. Use your customers full name and company provided you have permission. This adds credibility because the reader knows this is a real person. A photo of your happy customer makes an even bigger impact. Use case studies in a number of ways. For your customer newsletter, a case study is a better way to highlight a particular product than a straight sales pitch. Newsletters should be about content and people love to read about other people like themselves. Case studies are great for your website. Scatter them throughout your site and have a page dedicated to them as well. This is particularly important if you sell from your website without your customers speaking with you directly. Purchasing online is about trust, and well-written case studies can go a long way to establishing trust with your readers. When sending a sales letter, always enclose some case studies that highlight the product you are selling. A case study that closely resembles your prospects problem helps ease any objections they may have. Putting together case studies for your business will take some time some time and effort, but I know youll be pleased with the results. Andrea J. Stenberg is a freelance commercial writer.
